Blog #4: 2nd Semester, The End Of The College Applications Era, And What I Wish I Would Have Known

These last 3-4 months have probably been some of the worst of my entire life. Not that I've lived all that long, but still. College applications absolutely suck. Here is a visual representation of my emotions surrounding college apps:

Looking back, I don't think there's anything I wish I had known. I was pretty informed about everything I needed to know, and yet like the dumb teenager that I am, ended up ignoring a lot of it. Was I aware that I should have started my essays early? Yes. Did I do that? No.

And so, I will perpetuate the endless cycle that repeats every single year. I, as a wise senior, will now beg the juniors to start the application process as soon as possible. I will plead with them to write as many essays as possible over summer break so that they don't need to write them alongside the hours of homework and classwork they'll receive from school. And the majority of the class of 2023, my sister included, will probably ignore me. Oh well. Maybe it's a rite of passage at this point.

However, now that the process is done for me, I can say that most of the work is worth it! What most excites me about college is that I was somehow lucky enough to be accepted to my top school!!!! This was actually the first app I filled out, meaning I could have skipped the hundreds of hours of work I put into the 17 other applications I completed, but oh well. I think the theme of this entire blog post is hindsight is 20/20.
